Happy 3rd Birthday, Jon!

Thank you all for the birthday gifts and ang pows. Ah Mah flew over one day before to celebrate Jonathan's birthday. We bought his favourite strawberry cake from Quatre Patisserie and blew many balloons for him.

Here's a video of us singing the birthday song to him. He was so cute. I told him to close his eyes and make a wish before blowing out the candle. He closed his eyes the minute we started singing and only opened them when the song was finished. Throughout the song he was trying his best not to open his eyes, while smiling gleefully. Meanwhile, Justin shows off some of his never-seen-before gong-fu skills.



Jonathan also celebrated his birthday at school. The teachers made a lovely crown and birthday card for him, and his friends sang the birthday song.

Stay tuned for the next post. Jonathan has been asking us to bring him to Disneyland after seeing pictures of Justin with Mickey Mouse and Minnie at Hong Kong Disneyland. This year, we promised to bring him to Tokyo Disneyland for his birthday. He is really looking forward to it!

The Railway Museum

It was a rainy Saturday so we decided make a trip to The Railway Museum. The museum is conveniently located at Tetsudo-Hakubutsukan Station.

The kids spent the most time at the History zone (1st floor) which displayed 35 different types of carriages and locomotives since Meiji era. They ran in and out exploring the trains from electric railcars, through passenger carriages to shinkansen.

Good news for train lovers - right in the middle of the hall is a fully operational turntable. The turntable operates everyday at 12pm and 3pm, complete with the steam whistle blowing. We missed the show because we arrived at the museum at 4pm.

There are other areas which we didn't have time to explore within the two hours before the museum closed. The Learning Hall, mini-shuttle train service from the North Wing to the Park Zone, miniature operating train (charges apply). Nevertheless, the boys were happy. We had dinner at Gusto family restaurant before heading back home.
