Trip to Kaohsiung and Kending

We were all excited to escape from the cold and wet wintery Taipei. Our 5 days 4 nights trip down South brought us down to Kending (垦丁) and Kaohsiung (高雄). Before that I was still wondering how we would survive bringing 2 kids along on public transport. But it turned out pretty well.

Justin enjoyed his 300km/hr bullet train ride on the High Speed Rail. It took us only one and a half hours from Taipei to Kaohsiung.

Then from Kaohsiung, another 2 hour car ride to Kending - a tropical playground in the Southern part of Taiwan. It was sunshine, and more sunshine. Time to head for the beach and relax. Woohoo!! This somewhat reminded me of my Bali trip.

After 2 days in Kending, we drove back to Kaohsiung. More photos ...

Boat Ride to Cijin (旗津) Island

Cijin is a long, narrow island that forms a breakwater along Kaohsiung Harbour. Besides many small eateries selling seafood along the road, there is also a 300-yr-old Tienhou Temple near the dock.
